What’s the difference between the gluten free categories?

In Great Britain and Europe, under current food standards, products only have to have a gluten content of fewer than 20ppm to be classified as gluten free. Therefore, many products labelled as gluten free, are actually technically not. They’re gluten reduced – or deglutenised. That is, they’ve been brewed using gluten containing malt/barley, which is then reduced via the addition of an enzyme, or via the brewing process. But, people who are highly sensitive to any gluten content, like me, may still react negatively to them. So we wanted to clearly signpost the gluten content on all of our beers, to ensure you know what you’re getting.

<20PPM – brewed from gluten containing ingredients. Gluten removed during or as part of the brewing process. When tested, found to contain fewer than 20 parts per million. These will be indicated by the brown symbol.

<10PPM – brewed from gluten containing ingredients. Gluten removed during or as part of the brewing process. When tested, found to contain fewer than 10 parts per million. These will be indicated by the blue symbol.

<5PPM – brewed from gluten containing ingredients. Gluten removed during or as part of the brewing process. When tested, found to contain fewer than 5 parts per million. These will be indicated by the purple symbol.

Gluten Free – all ingredients are naturally and 100% gluten free. No barley. No enzyme. No gluten! These beers will be indicated by the green symbol.

How do you know for sure the beers are gluten free?

For the 100% gluten free beers, we check ingredients. For all others, we receive regular lab’ test certificates from the breweries.

Why the breweries on offer?

We firmly believe that gluten free shouldn’t mean compromise. So, our partner breweries will be carefully selected according to their ability to guarantee gluten free of course, but also, the quality of their beer, and our fit with each other’s agenda. You’ll notice, many of the beers are award winning, not just amongst gluten free beers, but more widely amongst all beers. Check out our fabulous partner breweries here.

Why the name?

Most of it’s pretty self explanatory! Of course we thought long and hard about this, and came up with some shockers! In the end, we decided to keep it simple, but, very much wanted the name to reflect our aim of becoming more than just an online store. We want to create a network to support Coeliacs or anyone choosing gluten free to make informed choices. We want to reach out to any beer drinker to explore new flavours with them. And we’d love your feedback and input!

Are all the beers vegan?

We do not specialise in vegan beers. Many of our beers are however suitable for vegans. We will make sure we label them clearly in the shop.

Will you sell to the public?

Yes. We sell to the public via our online shop. Click here.

Can I collect?

No, sorry. Under the terms of our licence, we are not allowed to offer a collection service. All our orders must be dispatched by courier.

Why do I have to buy in multiples of 12?

This comes down to packaging and postage. The boxes hold 12 or 24 beers. Again, watch this space. We might be able to offer more flexibility in the future.
