Brass Castle say…

“This classic bitter is based on a 1955 Cold War recipe.  Brass Castle originally brewed Emergency Bitter to remember ‘Operation Teapot’ and the nuclear tests carried out in Nevada to ascertain, among other things, the survivability of beer in the event of a nuclear explosion.  Canned beer fared better than bottled beer, particularly when the explosive blast was nearby.  Even after having been subjected to these extreme conditions, tests concluded that the beer was drinkable for ’emergency use’.
